the value of a machine worth Rs 500000 is depreciating at the rate of 10% every year. in how many years will it value be reduced to Rs 364500

first year 500000×10/100=50000
=500000-50000=450000
second=450000×10/100=45000
=450000-45000=405000
third= 405000×10/100= 40500
=405000-40500=364500

Solution:

In the first year,

Depreciation amount = 500000×10/100 = 50000

Depreciated cost after 1 year = 500000-50000 = 450000

In the second,

Depreciation amount = 450000×10/100 = 45000

Depreciated cost after 2 years = 450000-45000 = 405000

In the thirdyear,

Depreciation amount = 405000×10/100 = 40500

Depreciated cost after 3 years = 405000-40500 = 364500

Hence, in 3 years value of machine will be reduced to Rs 364500.
