I'm not entirely sure abt the answer, but this is my perception of it.

If you use g = GMm/d2, you'll get the value of 9.8 for the earth.

If the planet shrinks, the g is reduced to half (just find out the ratio of G1 to G2)

the answer would be 4.9 ms-2.
