Given:

P = 1 bar

V = 22.7 L

T = 273.15 K

n = 1 mole

To find:

Value of R in dm³ torr K⁻¹ mol⁻¹

Solution:

Considering the ideal gas equation, i.e.

              PV = nRT

by this we can find the value of R.

here R is a proportionality constant which is known as Gas constant.

in this equation, P = pressure ( 1 bar)

                          V = volume ( 22.711 L)

                          T = temperature ( 273.15K)

                          n = no. of moles (1 mole)

1 bar = \frac{760}{1.01325}

putting all the values, we get

R = \frac{(\frac{760}{1.01325})22.711 }{(1) (273.15)}

R = 62.36 dm³ torr K⁻¹ mol⁻¹

Hence, this is the required value of R.
