3x-y+8=0

3x= y–8 .....(i)

[Varify: y–8–y+8=0]

Substituting this value into following equation:

6x+ky= –16

3x.2+ky= –16

(y–8)2+ky= –16

2y–16+ky= –16

y(2+k)= –16+16

y(2+k)= 0

2+k=0

k= –2
