f(x) = 4x³ + 3x²-4x+k

one factor of f(x) = (x-1) (given)

x-1 = 0

x-1 = 0x = 1

f(1) = 4 × 1³ + 3× 1² -4×1 + k

f(1) = 4 × 1³ + 3× 1² -4×1 + k

= 4 +3-4+k

f(1) = 4 × 1³ + 3× 1² -4×1 + k

= 4 +3-4+k

4 + 3 - 4 + k. = 0

3 + k = 0

k = -3

so the value of k is -3
