the value of k, ( x - 1 ) is a
factor of x² + 9 x - 5 + k.

Answer:

if x-1 is factor, then x= 1

so putting in equation

(1)²+9(1) -5+k=0

=>1+9-5+k=0

=>10-5+k=0

=>5+k=0

=> k=-5
