EXPLANATION

(x - 2 ) is a factor of 4x^3 + 3x^2 - 4x + k = 0

TO FIND VALUE OF K

x - 2 = 0

x = 2

put x = 2 in above equation

we get,

4(2)^3 + 3(2)^2 - 4(2) + k = 0

32 + 12 - 8 + k = 0

44 - 8 + k = 0

36 + k = 0

k = - 36

therefore,

value of k is = -36 = ANSWER

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let f(x)=4x

3

+3x

2

−4x+k.

⇒(x−2) is a factor of f(x)

⇒ Remainder=0

⇒f(2)=4(2)

3

+3(2)

2

−4×(2)+k=0

⇒32+12−8+k=0

⇒36+k=0

∴k=−36
