Answer:i f one knows that π is approximately 3.14159, then it trivially follows that π < 227, which is approximately 3.142857. But it takes much less work to show that π < 227 by the method used in this proof than to show that π is approximately 3.14159.

π=22/7 or 3.14

Pi, is actually not equal to either of those : It is an irrational number which is equal to 3.141592653589793238462643383……. (Infinite decimals).

22/7 or 3.14 are just approximations of pi to make our life easier.

Pi is a very old number. We know that the Egyptians and the Babylonians knew about the existence of the constant ratio pi, although they didn't know its value nearly as well as we do today. They had figured out that it was a little bigger than 3; the Babylonians had an approximation of 3 1/8 (3.125), and the Egyptians had a somewhat worse approximation of 4*(8/9)^2 (about 3.160484), which is slightly less accurate and much harder to work with. For more, see A History of Pi by Petr Beckman (Dorset Press).

It was found by mathematicians that the circumference of a circle divided by its diameter resulted in a constant. The value was same for all circles - may the diameter be 10m or 13212m. This value was called pi.

Hence : Circumference / Diameter = pi

(Hence Circumference = Diameter * pi)

You can calculate it at home too!

Take a string and measure the circumference of a round object like a CD. Using a ruler, measure its diameter. Divide it and you will get a value approximately equal to 3.14.

The value of pie is neither 22/7 nor 3.14 .

pie is an irrational numbers which we get when we devide circumference of circle by its diameter.

These values are it's approximate values.
