16% increase of the value of the land is ,

( 232000 × 16/100 ) = 37120 rupees.

then , (a) value of the land after a year is  ( 232000 + 37120 ) = 269120 rupees.

let , the value of the land in previous year is x rupees.

then after 16% increase we get ,

( x × 116/100 ) = 232000

⇒ x = ( 232000 × 100 )/116 = 200000 rupees

then , (b) the value of the land in previous year is 200000 rupees .
