The value of two resistors are 5+- 0.3 and 10+- 0.2. What will be percentage error in equivalent resistance when connected in series?

When the two resistors are connected in parallel, the equivalent resistance will be

RP=R1+R2R1R2

Differentiating both sides ,

RPΔRP=R1ΔR1+R2ΔR2+R1+R2Δ(R1+R2)

RPΔRP=60.3+100.2+160.3+0.2=0.05+0.02+0.03125=0.10125

 % error =RPΔ
