2x + y = 8. ... (1)

–4x + 3y = 4. ...(2)

multiplying equation (1) by 2 , we get

4x + 2y = 16 , now adding bboth equation ,we get

5y = 20

y = 4

putting this value of y in equation (1)

2x + 4 = 8

2x = 4

x = 2
