Given that :

7, x and 23 are in A. P.

As we know that :

In an A. P.

 t_{2} -  t_{1} =  t_{3} -  t_{1}

Here,

 t_{1} = 7 \:  t_{2} = x \:  t_{3} = 23

According to the question :

x - 7 = 23 - x \\   \\ =  > x + x = 23 + 7 \\  \\  =  > 2x = 30 \\  \\  =  > x =  \frac{30}{2}  = 15

So, the value of x will be 15
