Answer:

We have given that y=1/2x

then put the Value of y in 3x + 4y=20

We have,

3x + 4(1/2x) =20

3x + 2x = 20

5x =20

x= 20/5

x =4

The value of x is 4

Given:

y=\frac{1}{2} x\hspace{50} (i) \\\\3x+4y =20\hspace{22} (ii)

To Find:

The value of x

Solution:

We have two equations with two unknown variables.

To find their values we will use the substitution method to solve the linear equations.

Put the value of y in equation (ii)

\implies 3x+4(\frac{1}{2}x )=20\\\\\implies 3x+2x = 20\\\\\implies 5x = 20\\\\\implies x = \frac{20}{5}\\ \\\implies x=4

We get the value of x as 4.

Now if we want to find the value of y, then put the calculated value of x in equation (i). We get the value of y as 2.
