Answer:

We know that,

Product of extreme =Product of mean

2 \times x = 3 \times 4

2x = 12

x =  \frac{12}{2}

Given 2:3 : : 4:x

Proportion:

In mathematics proportion is a quantity to compare two ratios. We use proportion symbol between ratios if both of them are equal.

It two ratios are proportional then the product of means is equal to product of extremes.

Mean numbers are the middle two numbers and extremes are end numbers.

In 2:3 : : 4:x,

Means are 3 and 4

Extremes are 2 and x

We know that product of means = product of extremes

2 \times x = 3 \times 4 \\ 2x = 12 \\ x = 6

Therefore, the value of x is

6
