2x^2 -2x +4x -4 = 0

2x^2+2x-4 = 0

2x^2 -2x+4x-4 = 0

2x ( x-1) +4 (x-1) = 0

(2x+4) (x-1) = 0

on comparing

2x+4 =0 ,. x -1= 0

x = -4/2. ,. x = 1

x = -2
