The values of resistances marked on the two coils Ri and R, are found to be correct. A student connects the given resistors in the following manner :
- From given figure it is clear that, the resistors are connected in series.
- Because, one end of the resistor R1 is connected to X and the other end is connected to resistor R2.
- Similarly,
- one end of the resistor R2 is connected to Y and the other end is connected to resistor R1.
- They together completes a circle.
- Hence they are in series.
- Now, the resistance is given by,
- Rs = R1 +R2
- = 3 + 6
- ∴ Rs = 9 ohm
