The values of standard oxidation potentials of following
reactions are given below :
(i) Zn → Zn²⁺ + 2e⁻ ; Eº = 0.762 V
(ii) Fe → Fe²⁺ + 2e⁻; Eº = 0.440 V
(iii) Cu → Cu²⁺ + 2e⁻ ; Eº = -0.345 V
(iv) Ag → Ag⁺ + e⁻ ; Eº = -0.800 V
Which of the following is most easily reduced
(a) Fe (b) Ag
(c) Zn (d) Cu

Here, the most easily reduced element is Ag

1. The more negative the Eº value of an element the higher is its oxidising power and hence the easier it gets reduced.

2. So from the given values it is clear that Ag gets most easily reduced as it has the most negative Eº value among the given ones.
