Given :- The values of 'x' and 'y' when a point lies on the linear equation 2x - 3y = 12

Solution :-

→ 2x - 3y = 12

putting x = 0,

→ 2 * 0 - 3y = 12

→ (-3y) = 12

→ y = (-4)

putting y = 0,

→ 2x - 3 * 0 = 12

→ 2x = 12 + 3

→ 2x = 15

→ x = (15/2)

so, values of x and y are (0, -4) (15/2 , 0)

The given linear equation has infinite number of solutions .

Given :

 a point lies on the linear equation 2x-3y=12

To Find :  The value of 'x' and 'y'

A. x = 0, y = -3

B. x = 2, y = 3

C. x = 3, y = -2

D. x = -2, y = 3

Solution:

2x-3y=12

x = 0

=> 2(0) - 3y = 12

=> y = - 4

Hence  x = 0, y = -3     is incorrect

2x-3y=12

x = 2

=> 2(2) - 3y = 12

=> -3y = 8

=> y = - 8/3

Hence  x = 2, y =  3     is incorrect

2x-3y=12

x = 3

=> 2(3) - 3y = 12

=> -3y =  6

=> y = - 2

Hence  x = 3  y = -2    is correct

2x-3y=12

x = -2

=> 2(-2) - 3y = 12

=> -3y = 16

=> y = - 16/3

Hence  x = -2, y =  3     is incorrect

so point is         x = 3  y = -2
