In this process, the short waves present on the earth surface are converted into latent heat which in tern converts ice into liquid leaving the vapours as residual which are soaked into the atmosphere.

The units of insolation are calculated generally as kilowatt-hours per square meter per day which is the value of amount of solar radiation hitting a particular area within a fixed period of time.
