ANSWER:

The vast majority of bacteria are Heterotrophs in nature.

EXPLANATION:

The heterotrophs survives via respiration. They utilize the substrate like carbohydrate, fats and protein and hence produce adenosine triphosphate phosphate (ATP) which is power house of the cell.

They also depends on other organism for food and oxygen. They undergo photosynthesis reaction and hence they also create energy from sunlight. In lab they are counted by using method called Heterotrophic Plate count (HPC)

Option (c) is the correct answer

Heterotrophs are the vast majority of bacteria

Explanation:

  • Heterotrophs, autotrophs, symbionts or chemotrophs can be Bacteria's.
  • A large number of the bacteria are heterotrophic in nature.
  • The bacteria's derive the energy from organic compounds.
  • The heterotrophic bacteria plays a major role  for the decomposition process.
  • Parasitic, saprophytic and also symbiotic forms are different Heterotrophic bacteria.
  • Most of the bacteria are heterotrophic but some are also autotrophic which survive on their own.
  • Bacteria are classified into two types on the basis of the modes of nutrition includes Heterotrophic bacteria and autotrophic bacteria.
  • Bacteria  which do not synthesize their own food are Heterotrophic bacteria. They depend on other organisms or on the dead organic matter for food and survival.
