Given:

The vector sum of three vectors a,b and c is zero.

To Find:

Direction of C.

Solution:

Given,

Vector a is along i direction.

Therefore,

  • a = ai

Vector b is along j direction.

Therefore,

  • b = bj

Given sum of vectors, a, b, c is 0.

Therefore,

  • a + b + c = 0
  • c = - ( a + b )
  • c = - ( ai + bj )
  • c = \frac{1}{\sqrt{a^{2}+ b^{2} } } ( a ( - i ) + b ( - j ) )
  • Therefore, c is in - i - j direction.

Therefore, C  is along - i - j.
