a=(v-u)/t
=(45-60)/3
=(-15)/3
=-5
it is a negative acceleration i.e. retardation
answer=-5m/s^2

hyunxu: no retardation here

Given:

  • The initial velocity = 45 m/s
  • The final velocity = 60 m/s
  • Time = 6 secs

To Find:

  • The value of acceleration.

Solution:

The formula to find acceleration is given by,

a = (v-u)/t → {equation 1}

Where "v" is the final velocity, "u" is the initial velocity, "t" is the time.

On substituting the given values in equation 1 we get,

⇒ a = (60-45)/6 {subtracting the terms in bracket}

⇒ a = 15/6 {dividing the terms}

⇒ a = 5 m/s^2

∴ The acceleration = 5 m/s^2
