The velocity of a body of mass 10kg increases from 4m/s to 8m/s when a force acts on it for
5s. Find the magnitude of force.

Answer:

Mass of the body =10 kg

Initial velocity u =4m/s

Final velocity v=8m/s

time t= 5s

Momentum before force acts p 1 = m×u

10 ×4= 40 kg.m/s

Momentum after force acts p2 =m×v

:10×8=80 kg.m/s

Gain in momentum per second =40/5 =8 kg.m/s

Acceleration a= v-u/t

:8-4/5

:0.2 m/s

Force =m×a

: 10 ×5= 50 N
