The velocity of a bullet is reduced from 200m per sec to 100m per second while travelling through a wooden block of thickness 10 cm. find the further displacement

Given that.

initial velocity, u=200m/s

final velocity, v=100m/s

distance travelled, s=10cm =0.1m

We know that,

u  2 −v  2 =2as

or,a=  2s u  2 −v  2 =  2(0.1) (200)  2  −(100)  2

  =  0.2 300

​ =1.5×10  6  m/s  2

 =15×10  4  m/s  2

 

Hence,

option (D) is correct answer.
