Question : The velocity of light in a median is 2 * 10² m/s. what is the refractive index of the medium with respect to air. If the velocity of light in air is 3 * 10² m/s ?

Given data :

  • Velocity of medium, v = 2 * 10² m/s
  • Velocity of light, c = 3 * 10² m/s

Solution :

Now by formula of refractive index ( n )

⟹ n = c/v

⟹ n = 3 * 10²/2 * 10²

⟹ n = 3/2

⟹ n = 1.5

Answer : Hence, the refractive index of the medium with respect to air is 1.5

Answer:

SOLUTION:-

NOW BY FORMULA OF REFRACTIVE

n=c/v

n=3×10²/2×10²

n=3/2

=1.5
