The velocity of light in air is 3*10m/s. If the refractive index of water is 4/3 find the velocity of light in water.

Refractive index = c/v
4/3=3*10^8/v
v=9*10^8/4
v=2.5*10^8m/s

reflective index of water nw = 4/3


Let, speeds of light in water be cl

Therefore,

nw = c / cl

=> 4/3 = 3×10^8/cl

=> cl = (3×10^8 × 3)/4

=> cl = 2.25 × 10^8 m/s


Hence, speed of light in water is 2.25×10^8 m/s
