Let v- velocity of the wave

f- freequency

w- wavelength

Then we know that fw=v …(i)

Now the wavelength decrease by 20%. As the velocity of the wave in a given medium is constant, so the frequency changes and the equation becomes

f'w(1-0.8)=v

Or f'(0.8w)=v ...(ii)

Now dividing eq(ii) from eq(i) gives us

f'/f=1/0.8

Or f'/f=1.25

Or f'=1.25f

That means the frequency increases by 25%.
