The velocity time graph is as shown below :

(¡) identify the kind of motion of the object represented by lines OA and BC
(¡¡) with what velocity the object is moving at T= 8 second
(¡¡¡) calculate the acceleration of the object in the following cases: (A) between the THIRD AND TENTH SECOND
(B) during the last 2 seconds

i) The motion represented by OA is accelerated motion while the motion represented by BC is decelerated motion.

ii) Acceleration of the lift during first 2 seconds = 4.6 / 2 = 2.3 m/s2

iii) Acceleration between third and tenth second = 0

iv) Acceleration during last 2 seconds = 0 - 4.6/2 = - 2.3 m/s2

Answer:

A velocity-time graph depicts the speed and direction of an object over a certain time period.

Explanation:

  • An explanation for (¡) identify the kind of motion of the object represented by lines OA and BC:

The motion shown by OA is accelerated, whereas the motion symbolized by BC is decelerated.

  • An explanation for (¡¡) with what velocity the object is moving at T= 8 second:

Acceleration of the lift during the first 2 seconds = 4.6/2

= 2.3 m/s²

  • An explanation for (¡¡¡) (A) calculate the acceleration of the object between the 3rd and 10th second:

Between the third and tenth seconds, there is no acceleration.

  • An explanation for (¡¡¡) (B) acceleration of the object during the last 2 seconds:

= 0 - 4.6/2

= - 2.3 m/s²

Thus, Speed-time graphs are sometimes known as velocity-time graphs. The velocity of the item is the vertical axis of a velocity-time graph. The time from the beginning is represented on the horizontal axis.
