The velocity - time graph of a particle is shown in the figure.

To find : the displacement of the particle. where interaction point of time axis is t = 4.33 = 13/3 sec

solution : we know, the displacement of the particle = area enclosed by velocity - time the graph

= area of parallelogram + (- area of triangle) [ negative sign of area of triangle indicates the displacement in opposite directions ]

= 1/2 × 4 × [(3 - 1) + (13/3 - 0)] - 1/2 × 2 × (6 - 13/3)

= 2 × [2 + 13/3 ] - (18 - 13)/3

= 2 × 19/3 - 5/3

= 33/3

= 11

Therefore the displacement of the particle is 11 m
