The velocity-time graph of a particle moving along a straight line is as shown below. Calculate the distance
covered between t = 0 to t = 8 seconds. Also calculate the displacement between the same interval.​

Explanation:

Now, Distance-

Area under the slope is the distance if we leave the signs aside.

So in first 2 seconds it 2 meters per second

A=1/2hb

A=1/2 * 2 * 2= 2 m

in second 2 s, 2 m/s

so similarly,  2m

in third 2 seconds, 2 m/s

so it's 2 m again

and in last 2 seconds,  the area is a square and v=2m/s

2*2=4 meters.

Total distance is 2+2+2+4=10 meters.

For displacement, take the signs. So it will be +2, -2, +2 and -4 meters.

So it is +4-6=-2 meters.
