The velocity – time graph of an object is given. Find
a)The acceleration for the first 10 seconds.
b)Retardation from 30 to 40 seconds.
c)Part of the graph showing zero acceleration.
d)Find the distance travelled by the object in the first 30 seconds.

Maximum acceleration means maximum slope in speed time graph.

That slope is for line between 30 to 40 seconds.

Therefore,

Maximum acceleration

= Slope of that line

= 40−30s/60−20m/s

= 10/40

=4m/s²

Hence, the maximum acceleration in m/s²

=4m/s²
