The price at which the vendor bought ( CP ) = Rs 480 per 40 dozon

As the vendor bought 40 dozon lemon or ( 12 × 40 ) ⇒ 480 lemons at Rs 480, so the cost price for 1 lemon should be Rs ( 480 / 480 ) ⇒ Rs 1

When he find 40 lemons rotton, he sell the rest. so the number of remaining lemons ⇒ ( 480 - 40 ) = 440 lemon. As 40 lemons are rotton, he sell the rest ( 440 ) lemons at Rs 1.50.

So, Price at which the vendor sell the lemons( SP ) = Rs 1.50

Profit of selling lemons = CP - SP

                                      = Rs ( 440 × 1.50 ) - Rs 440

                                      =  Rs 660 - Rs 440

                                     = Rs 220

Therefore,

Profit \% = \dfrac{220}{480} \times 100

                      = 45.84 %
