Least count of a vernier calipers is L.C=1M.S.D−1V.S.D  where M.S.D= main scale division and V.S.D= vernier scale division.

Here, 25V.S.D=23M.S.D or 1V.S.D=(23/25)M.S.D

Thus, L.C=1M.S.D−(23/25)M.S.D=(2/25)M.S.D=(2/25)(1mm)=0.08mm

Hey there!

Given,

L.C = 0.01 cm

Zero error = + 0.02 cm

Main scale reading = 4.8 cm

number of vernier division coinciding with the main scale division is 6.

Length of rod = observed reading - zero error

=[ main scale reading + coinciding vernier division] - zero error

= 4.8 + 0.06 cm - (+0.02)

= 4.86 - 0.02 = 4.84 cm

Hope It Helps You!
