The vertices of a triangle are A(2,4),B(-3,1) and C(4,-7)
The slope of line BC
= y
₂ ₋ y₁/ x₂ ₋ x₁
=(1 + 7)/ (₋3 ₋ 4)
= ₋8/7
For perpendicular Altitude from A
m₁m₂  = ₋1
⇒ ₋8/7 × m₂  = ₋1
⇒ m₂ = 7/8
The slope of the altitude through A is 7/8

given points are A(2,4),B(-3,1),C(4,-7)
slope of BC=4-(-3)/-7-1=7/-8=-7/8
Slope of altitude through A=-1/-7/8=8/7

sowmyalikhitha: sorry I did a mistake
sowmyalikhitha: slope of BC=-7-1/4-(-3)=-8/7
sowmyalikhitha: SLOPE OF ALTITUDE THROUGH A= -1/-8/7=7/8
