The village of Gunduwana has a population of 4415 households.

The population collects water from two boreholes with a capacity of 3.5L/s each.

The pump is activated by solar panel. We assume that the pump is activated during 8 hours per day.

Each water tank as a capacity of 20m3 with 4 water collection point with 6 taps each.

• Water need: 15L / pers/ day,

• Water lost at the fetching point: 20%

• 250 person can use a tap

• 1 Household = 6 persons

All the calculations should be described.

1. Calculate the daily capacity of the two boreholes

2. Calculate the daily need of water to pump for all Gunduwana’s population (liters)

3. Is there any gap in the coverage of needs of water of the population? (Provide logical calculation)

4. What can we do to supply enough water to the population of Gunduwana?
