Given:

24 grams of carbon is combusted.

To find:

Volume of Carbon dioxide produced?

Calculation:

Equation of combustion of carbon:

C + O_{2}\longrightarrow CO_{2}

We know that , at STP:

  • 1 mole of carbon (i.e. 12 grams) produces 22.4 L of carbon dioxide.

Now, our sample has 24 gram of carbon.

  • So, volume of carbon dioxide produced is 22.4/12 × 24 = 44.8 L

So, 44.8 litres of carbon dioxide will be produced.
