The volume of a 1000g packed tin is 500 cm3
What is the density of packed tin?
Will the packet float or sink in water (density 1g/cm3)
What will be the mass of water displaced by this tin?

Answer:

Density =mass/volume

1000g/500cm^3=2g/cm^3.

The tin will displace water equal to its own volume. Since the volume of tin is 2g/cm^3so it will displace 500cm^3 of water. Now, volume of water displace is 500cm^3 and the density of water in common units is 1g/cm^3. Putting these values of water in formula:

Density of water =Mass of water /Volume of water

1g/cm^3=mass of water / 500cm^3

mass of water =1g/cm^3×500cm^3=500g.

Thus, the mass of water displaced is 500g.

Relative density of tin=density of tin /density of water

= 2g/cm^3/1g/cm^3=2

Thus, the relative density of the tin is 2.

Since the relative density of this tin (2) is greater than the relative density of water (which is 1) therefore, this time is heavier than water and hence it will sink in water.

Answer:500cm^3

But how?

There's how:-

Volume = 500cm^3

Mass = 1000g

(a) Density = mass/volume.

= 1000/500

2g/cm^3

(b) As the Density of water is 1g/cm^3 and the Density of tin is 2g/cm^3

Therefore it will sink in water .

(c) Mass of water displaced = mass of tin can

Mass of water displaced= m.g

=VD(as m = VD)

= 500cm^3×1g/cm^3

= 500cm^3

ANSWER = (a) = 2g/cm^3

(b) It will sink

(c) 500cm^3
