volume of cube = 216 cm³

=> side³ = 216 cm³

=> side = ³√216 cm³

=> side = ³√(6×6×6) cm³

=> side = 6 cm

surface area generally refers to TSA (total surface area)

=> TSA of cube = 6×(side)²

=> TSA of cube = 6×(6)² = 6×36

=> TSA of cube = 216 cm²

hope this helps
