The volume of a cuboid is 648 cm3

. Its height is 8cm and the base is a square.

Find

i) A side of the square base.

ii) Surface area of the cuboid​

i) Let side of square be x.

Volume of cuboid = Base area × Height

⇒ 648cm³ = x × x × 8cm

⇒ 648/8 = x²

⇒ 81 = x²

⇒ √81 = x

⇒ 9 = x

∴ side of square is 9cm.

ii) Total surface area of cuboid = 2(lb+bh+hl)

= 2(9*9+9*8 + 8*9) = 2(81+72+72) = 2×225

= 450cm²
