The volume of a cylinder is 150π cu.cm and its height is 6 cm. Find the areas of its total surface and lateral (curved) surface.

ANSWER

Volume of cylinder =150πcm

As we know that volume of the cylinder is given as-

V=πr

2

h

∴πr

2

h=150π

⇒r

2

=

6

150

⇒r=

25

=5

Therefore,

Lateral surface area =2πrh

=2×π×5×6

=60πcm

2

Total surface area =2πr(r+h)

=2×π×5×(5+6)

=110πcm
