Given - Temperature and volume

Find - New volume

Solution - The volume at 0° C is 3.76 dm³ and the volume at 1000° C is 0.8 dm³.

Volume and temperature are related to each other as follows -

V1/T1 = V2/T2. In the formula, V1 and T1 is initial volume and temperature. V2 and T2 is the final volume and temperature.

Keep the values in the formula to find the new volume as per given temperatures.

Converting the temperature to Kelvin.

Initial temperature = 273 + 70

Initial temperature = 343 Kelvin

a) 3*343 = V2*273

V2 = 1029/273

V2 = 3.76 dm³

b) 1000 °C in Kelvin = 1273

3*343 = V2*1273

V2 = 1029/1273

V2 = 0.8 dm³

Thus, the volume at 0° C is 3.76 dm³ and the volume at 1000° C is 0.8 dm³.
