The density of the substance is more than the density of water (1 g cm-3). Hence, it will sink in water.

As the packet is fully submerged in water,

Mass of water displaced by the packet = volume of the packet x density of water

                                                    = 350 cm3 × 1 g/cm3 = 350 g

Answer:

350 g

Explanation:

Given The volume of a plastic covered sealed box is 350 cm³ and the box has a mass 500 g. Will the box float on water or sink in water? What will be the mass of water displaced by the box?

First we need to find the density of box, since density is important to know whether an object will float or sink.

So density is given by mass / volume

              So d = 500 g / 350

                 d = 1.428 g /cm^3

Now we know density of box is more than density of water, since density of water is equal to 1 g/cm^3

So it will sink in water.

Now the box is fully inside the water.

So mass of water displaced = volume of box x density of water

               So mass = 350 cm^3 x 1 g/cm^3

              mass = 350 g

So mass of water displaced by the box will be 350 g
