Question

the volume of a solid of mass 500 gram is 350 cm ^2 .

  • what will be the mass of water displaced by the solid ?

Answer

Given,

  • the mass of the solid is 500 g
  • and given volume is 350 cm^2

Now,

according to given question we have to first find the density .

So, to find density we have to use the formula ;

 \bold{density =  \frac{mass}{volume} }

putting the value in the formula we get ;

 =  > d =  \frac{500}{35 0}

 =  > d = 1.43g /\: {cm}^{3}

Now,

  • the solid will displaced a volume of water to its own volume since the density of this solid is greater than the density of water .

 \bold{ \: mass \: of \: water \:  = density \: of \: water \:  \times volume \: of \: water \: }

putting the value in the formula we get ;

=> 1 g / cm^3 × 350 cm ^3

=> 350 g

Hence, mass of water diplaced by the solid is 350 g .
