the volume of a sphere is 4851 cm^3. how should its radius be reduced so that its volume becomes 4312/2 cm^3

Solution:

volume of sphere = 4/3 Π r³

A/Q => 4/3 Π r³ = 4851

=> r³ = 1157.625

=> r = 10.5 cm

smaller sphere
=> 4/3 ΠR³ = 4312/2

=> ΠR³ = 1617

=> R³ = 514.9

=> R = 8.005 cm (approx)

Thus, Radius should be reduced = r - R

= 10.5 - 8.005 = 2.495 = 2.5 cm
