Hi friend!!
The volume of air that cannot be expelled out no matter how hard you breathe out ie even after maximum exhalation , is known as 'residual volume' (RV)and is equivalent to 60-100 cubic inches..
This also means that our lungs are never completely out of air . (Otherwise they would collapse as the tissues would stick together)
Measuring RV using special tests is used to check the health of your lungs too..
These tests are:
*Gas dilution test
And
*Body plethysmography
