Given - Number of moles of methane.

Find - Volume of oxygen required

Solution - 33.6 litres of oxygen will be required.

The combustion reaction between methane and oxygen is given as follows -

CH4 + 2O2 --> CO2 + 2H2O. In the chemical reaction, CH4 is methane, O2 is oxygen, CO2 is carbon dioxide and H2O is water.

1 mole of methane required 2 moles of oxygen

So, 0.75 moles of methane will require = 2*0.75

0.75 moles of methane will require = 1.5 moles.

Now, 1 mole of gas = 22.4 litres at STP

1.5 mole of gas = 22.4*1.5

1.5 mole of gas = 33.6 litres

Thau, 33.6 litres of oxygen will be required.
