Given:

✰ The volume of the figure = 48 cm³

✰ Length ( l ) = 6 cm

✰ Height ( h ) = 4 cm

To find:

✠ The value of w.

✠ The area of the shaded part.

Solution:

✵ First of all the figure given in the attachment is cuboid. As the the volume of the cuboid, length ( l ) , height ( h ) is given to us, we can easily calculate the value of w which is nothing but the breadth of cuboid. Next we have to find the area of the shaded part so to find the area of the shaded part we will use formula to calculate the area of rectangle i.e., l × b ( here breadth of the rectangle would be the height of the cuboid as you can clearly see in the attachment ).

Volume of cuboid = length × breath × height

  • Volume of cuboid = l × b × h

  • 48 = 6 × w × 4

  • 48 = 24 × w

  • w = 48/24

  • w = 2 cm

The value of w = 2 cm

Area of rectangle = length × breadth

Area of shaded part = length × breadth

  • Area of shaded part = l × b

  • Area of shaded part = 6 × 4

  • Area of shaded part = 24 cm²

The area of shaded part = 24 cm²
