Answer: BIG tank = 100 litres and Small Tank = 50 lites

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1

The capacity of big tank = x litres ( 2y litres )

The capacity of the smaller tank = y litres ( X/2 litres )

Step 2

If we draw out 25 litres from the hi big tank and add it to the smaller one , their quantity become same. SO THIS MEANS........

1. X - 25 = y

2. y + 25 = x - 25

Step 3

So , the ratio between them should be 4:2 and afterwards it becomes 3 : 3 ( 1 : 1 )

So , 25*4 = 100

And , 25*2 = 50 ( This expression also proves that the value of X is twice as Y )

Now , if we withdraw 25 litres from 100 litres and add it to 50 litres , we will get 75 lites in both of them.

: : Thus , This proves that the amount of water in big tank should be 100 litres and the amount of water in the smaller tank should be 50 litres.
