If you want to now if an object can sink or float first you have to check if it has  great or less density than that of water (1g/cm3 or 1000kg/m3)

The two physical quantities should be the same. If volume is 250cm3 then the mass should be grams

      therefore  2kg=2000g

now from

      Density = mass/volume

      Density = 2000g/250cm3

      Density = 8g/cm3

since density of wooden box is larger than density of water. The wooden box will sink.
