Hi friend,

I think that it is a question of \bold{Give\:reason\:for\:your\:answer}

The reason is that the fluid pressure or the pressure exerted by fluid(i.e. water in this case) is directly proportional to the depth of fluid i.e. water. The pressure exerted by water increases as the depth increases so to sustain more pressure the walls of dam is broadened at it base.

Hope it helps ;)
